Official inflation at 1.01% in November

The rate for the last 12 months hit 10.48%, far off the target ceiling

Brazil's official inflation, as measured by the National Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), reached 1.01% in November, 0.19 percentage points above October's 0.82%, announced the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The figure is the highest for November since 2002, when it was ed at 3.02%. In November 2014, the IPCA was up 0.51%.

From January to November, the IPCA stood at 9.62%, higher than the 5.58% observed in the same period the previous year. It is also the highest value since 2002, when it hit 10.22%.

As for the 12-month, period, the rate is up 10.48%, higher than the 9.93% from 12 months prior, and far from the center (4.5%) and the ceiling (6.5%) of the target.

For the second month in a row, fuels had a significant share in families' costs, and amounted to 5.14% of the IPCA.

The IPCA, calculated by the IBGE since 1980, includes families with an income of one to 40 times the country's minimum wage, regardless of the source, and covers ten metropolitan regions in Brazil plus the municipalities of Goiânia, Campo Grande and Brasília.

For the monthly rate, prices were collected and compared between October 28 to November 27 and September 29 to October 27.
