Isaquias Queiroz advanced, this Thursday (4), to the semifinals of the C1 1000 meters race at the World Speed Canoeing Championships being held in Halifax (Canada). The achievement was achieved after the Bahian finished his heat in second position, with a time of 3min59s71.

The winner of the race was the Romanian Catalin Chirila, while Serghei Tarnovschi, from Moldova, reached the third best mark. If he gets past the semifinals, the Olympic champion will reach his second final in the competition, as last Wednesday (3) he guaranteed direct classification for the C1 500-meter event by finishing first in his heat.

In the history of speed canoeing world championships, Isaquias Queiroz has already won 12 medals (six gold and six bronze).
