Value of Agricultural Production shall reach BRL 1,227 trillion

The Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP in the original Portuguese acronym) is expected to reach BRL 1,227 trillion ($ 263 billion dollars) this year, 2.4 percent higher than the BRL 1,199 trillion ($ 257 billion dollars) recorded in 2021. The estimate was released by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply.
According to the secretariat, the VBP growth shall be reached even with the drought in the south of the country during the planting months, one of the main factors impacting this year's result.
“These results can be attributed, in general, to increases in production and prices,” a note from the secretariat says.
The value of crops, according to the secretariat, has grown 7.5 percent, and that of livestock had a retraction of 8.5 percent regarding the relation from one year to the other.
Products with good VBP performance are cotton lint with a real increase of 42.2 percent; banana, 17.7 percent; potato, 11.4 percent; coffee, 55.7 percent (conillon and arabic); sugarcane, 28.4 percent; beans, 8.7 percent; orange, 10 percent; corn, 24.1 percent; tomato, 32.6 percent; and wheat, 4.8 percent.
