The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), José Maria Marin, has accepted the resignation of Luiz Felipe Scolari and all coaching staff of Brazil's soccer squad. The resignation was formally announced Monday (July 14).

A statement posted on the CBF website confirms Scolari's termination and conveys Marin's thank you message to all of the coaching staff, the players and the Brazilian fans for recovering pride and self-esteem and for showing their and ion for the national squad throughout the World Cup campaign.

“Scolari and all the coaching staff deserve our respect and gratitude. They are responsible for reviving Brazilian fans' ion for the national team, even if the ultimate goal was not achieved,” the note read.
